Hello ,
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we have three opportunities to support survivors and raise awareness.
First, be sure to attend our regular meeting on Monday, April 21 at 6:30pm, when we’ll learn more about Denim Day. It began in 1999 after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court to overturn a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove them, thereby implying consent. Following the reversal, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.

Then, on Tuesday, April 22 at 10am, our members have been invited to City Hall to stand in support of the Denim Day Proclamation! Join us along with City Attorney Heather Ferbert, Council President Joe LaCava, and Mayor Todd Gloria as they co-present the proclamation. Wear your denim and be in included in the group photo.
