It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the recent passing of Jesse Jackson, a towering figure in the civil rights movement and American politics.

Please take a few minutes to read this important article about Reverend Jackson. He changed the trajectory for women, especially for Black women, in the Democratic Party and in leadership spaces, leaving a legacy of empowerment, inclusion, and political possibility.

1619 Women’s Empowerment March, March 8th!

On behalf of the 1619 National Celebration of Black Women, we are invited to join this year’s 1619NCBW Women’s Empowerment March.

The theme, “SEEN”, highlights the unity and strength of women of all backgrounds in celebration of International Women’s Day.

This event offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your organization’s pride and support for women’s empowerment.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, March 8, 2026

  • Where: 63rd Street and Imperial Avenue

  • Gather time: 10:30 - 10:55 AM.

  • March Start Time: 11:00 AM

  • Parking: Available at the Encanto Imperial Strip Mall.

The 0.6-mile Empowerment March will conclude with a community celebration at Marie C. Widman Neighborhood Park, featuring entertainment, cultural activities, and family-friendly fun.
